Survey Result
Here are the results of the survey that I conducted. Most of them were filled out by students in DAI and a large portion of them were students in Prof. Jane Veeder's 323 class. So thanks to all the people who took part of this survey and thank you Jane for letting me conduct a survey in your class.

SFSU Anti-Smoking Task Force
Along with the enactment of the smoking policy in campus, an anti-smoking task force has been formed consisting of people from different sectors within the university.
Here are links to the school's website regarding the smoke-free policy in campus:
About the smoking policy - http://www.sfsu.edu/~news/announce/smokingpolicy.htm
About the task force - http://www.sfsu.edu/~puboff/smokefree/taskforce.html
Regarding the pictures that i took around campus, I have a whole lot more but the add image feature is currently not working so I will post the other pictures later.

Existing signange
I have taken pictures of the existing signage for the designated smoking areas during the past weeks. These are some of the ones along 19th avenue and near the parking garage. I purposely tried to find them myself without the aid of the existing campus map which had them located to see how effective they are.... Finding them was not easy.
You wold not see this one if you're coming from the campus' entrance because of the umbrella.
This is the sign in between the Business and HSS buildings, where a lot of students gather and smoke.
More to come later...

WHO AM I?
I am Martin Orlino, a Design and Industry senior in San Francisco State University with an emphasis on Visual Communication Design. I am a very visual person, constantly doodling on my sketchbook and looking at art wherever I go. Currently, I have been drawn into digital illustration. This may be caused by my love for sequential art and gaming, which have been hobbies of mine since I was very young.
INSPIRATION
My peers and friends who support me and push me to become better at what I do is where I draw inspiration from. Also, I always get fascinated with people who have talent and skill when it comes to hand-drawn art.
INFLUENCES
Good artists and hard workers have always been my influences and who I strive to be like.
HOPES
My hope in life is simple. It is that I would be able to do what I love doing and perhaps, be able to give back to the society.

The Problem and Purpose Statements
The issue that I am tackling is smoking in our smoke-free campus. This is both a health and environmental problem for the campus and its people.
Problem Statement:
San Francisco State University established a no smoking policy on campus with designated smoking areas within its premises but there has been difficulty implementing this policy because of unawareness and lack of visible signage.
Purpose Statement:
The purpose of this study was to develop a means of effectively informing people about San
Francisco State University's smoke-free policy and the location of designated smoking areas within the campus.
